Chard hosted the first Somerset Junior Hockey tournament for the season for the U14s age group on Sunday which saw eight teams taking part.
All matches were very competitive and good skills were on show. Chard won 3 matches and lost 4.
Goalie George Owen was very busy throughout the morning and made some excellent saves. His defence of Hattie Withers, George Souster and Heidi Warren tackled strongly but were stretched against the stronger teams.
The midfield and forwards of Alec Evans, Crocus Douglass, Ollie Saxby and Harvey Evans worked hard and ran tirelessly and created many opportunities when they strung their passes together and eight goals were shared between them.
This was a good start to the season with a young team in this age group.
