Minehead 3s. v Chard 3s.

Chard started this game right where they left off last week, pressuring the opponents and trying to make crucial runs in to the D count, however it was Minehead that nearly took the lead with a short corner.

After some nifty work by Joel Handscomb in the D, Chard got their first short corner, nearly converting it with a neat reverse flick from Gary Wheaton which ended up hitting the crossbar…Not long after some more work from Handscomb saw him able to slip the ball across the opponents D for George Criddle to pick the ball and strike on his reverse forcing the ball into the bottom left corner of the net. 1-0 Chard.
Any advances by the home side were cleanly dealt with defence of Paul Sainsbury, Nigel Parris, Blaize Marchant and Arthur Handley backed up by the ever reliable Luke Bradshaw in goal.

Half-time talk just asked for more of the same for the second half which the team did with Ollie Bartlett making some good runs down the right and Elliot Webb down the left-hand side making use of George Parris controlling the midfield and getting the ball out to them. Chard thought they had a well earned second goal when Joel Handscomb played the ball across the goal for the Minehead player to put it straight into the back of the net alas the umpires in the confusion decided it was a pass from outside the D leading to a disallowed goal and a long corner as the consolation prize….we beg to differ…we decided it was better to accept the long corner, (should of been short corner at least), and keep quiet in order to keep 11 players on the pitch, and umpires cards stay in his pocket. Not long after this the home side got their equalizer when a through ball managed to evade the Chard players and the lone speedy Minehead player managed to have a one-on-one with Luke Bradshaw and managed to slot it past into the bottom corner on his reverse. Not long after the home side nearly got a second when the umpires judged a foot on the line by Paul Sainsbury - despite letting the Minehead players have four shots on goal before a penalty flick decision was awarded to the home side, unfortunately for them the formidable Bradshaw ensured the game would stay 1-1 with a strong save.
In the closing minutes Chard once again thought they was nearly going to get another chance for the 3 points as Isaac Parris took on a one-on-one with the goalkeeper (who everybody thought fouled Parris by trapping his legs, unable to move to get the ball and play, but the umpire didn't seem to agree..)

Another good performance by the youth filled side which again was complemented by the opposition team stating how well they played together.
