At home they stood, a bare eleven,
Injuries raining down from heaven.
But Chard Men’s 2s said, “We’ll cope, we’ll fight!”
(Or at least keep spirits stupidly bright.)
Minehead arrived with goals in store—
Six they bagged, while Chard got four…
Well, nearly. Final tally: three,
But entertainment? A solid ten out of three.
Luke Bradshaw, hero, guarding the net,
Pulled off saves no one will forget.
Leaping, diving—“Is he dead?!”
Nope. Just saving shots with his head.
A family affair on the Chard home ground,
The Parris trio whizzing around.
Archie, Isaac, Nigel—what a sight!
Two got goals… the third claims he assisted, right?
Then the drama: a father-son duel—
A Wheaton vs Wheaton, keeping cool.
Bragging rights simmering under the sun—
Only one winner… but neither’s done.
Captain Richard, sprinting in a whirl,
Legs and arms all in a twirl—
Running circles, zig-zag tricks,
A headless chicken doing hockey flicks.
Ollie Bartlett, man of the match,
Ran like he was trying to catch
A bus, a dream, a runaway hat—
He ran, and ran, and ran after that.
Meanwhile Jason and James, oh no, not again—
Added fresh injuries to their growing pain.
The physio sighs, the bench says “rest”…
This season’s becoming an injury test.
And Spud, bless him, dramatic as ever,
Spent half the match on the floor—so clever.
Rolling, tumbling, making crowds chatter—
Chard’s very own “New Neymar”—just with more splatter.
Tom Eames stood solid, cool at the back,
Blocking, tackling, launching counter-attack.
Strong as an ox with a turbo-mode dash—
Turning defence into a lightning flash.
Huge thanks to umps Katie Fear and Hannah McGown,
Keeping tempers steady and standards sound.
Whistles sharp, decisions clear—
MVPs of the hockey sphere.
And cheers to our sponsors—what a boost indeed!
James Planning & Development Services—support every team needs.
Helping the club keep rolling along,
Fuelling the fight, the fun, and the song.
So Minehead took the points, that’s true,
But Chard brought heart and humour too.
A cracking match, a cracking crew—
And next time… maybe we’ll win one too.
