Chard Ladies 1s rounded off their season in style with a commanding 9–1 victory over Sidmouth & Ottery 4s on a bright, sunny morning in Ottery St Mary.
Already crowned league champions, Chard demonstrated exactly why they’ve dominated this season with a confident and clinical performance from start to finish. They wasted little time asserting control, moving the ball well and creating chances early on.
The first half saw Chard take a firm grip on the game, heading into the break 4–0 up. Katie Fear once again proved her goal-scoring prowess with a brilliant brace, further cementing her status as the team’s standout top scorer this season. She was joined on the scoresheet by Lois Butcher and Charlotte Mooney, both finding the net to give Chard a comfortable cushion at halftime.
Sidmouth & Ottery came out with renewed determination in the second half and applied sustained pressure, testing Chard more than in the opening period. However, the champions remained composed and continued to extend their lead with some excellent attacking play.
Layla Anderson added two goals to the tally, while Summer Solman and Charlotte Mooney each grabbed another. A special moment came for Misha Taylor, who scored her first ever goal for Chard—one she won’t forget in a hurry.
Sidmouth & Ottery did manage to pull one back, but it was little more than a consolation as Chard’s dominance never looked in doubt.
It was a fantastic performance and a fitting way to seal an outstanding, title-winning season for Chard Ladies.
Player of the Match went to Jade Dunning for a solid attacking performance from right back, consistently driving play forward and supporting the team’s offensive momentum.
