Final Score: Chard 2 – 0 ISCA
Venue: Holyrood School

Chard Ladies 1s hosted second placed ISCA 4s at Holyrood School in what proved to be a competitive and hard fought contest. ISCA pushed Chard throughout the match, forcing the home side to play some of their best hockey in order to secure the result.

The game was evenly matched for large periods, with both teams creating opportunities in front of goal but being denied by strong defensive performances.

Chard eventually broke the deadlock in the 20th minute. Charlotte battled well in front of goal to keep the attack alive and when the ball fell to Katie, she reacted quickly to slot the ball home and give Chard the lead.

Both sides defended well for the remainder of the first half, preventing any further chances from being converted and keeping the score at 1–0 going into the break.

After a half time talk from coach Trevor Goss, Chard returned to the pitch determined to hold onto their advantage. Chard applied sustained pressure on the ISCA defence and created several chances to extend the lead.

The second goal eventually came from another great link up between Charlotte and Katie. Charlotte crossed the ball into the circle and Katie timed her run to the penalty spot perfectly to slot the ball into the goal.

Despite ISCA continuing to battle, Chard’s defence remained strong to see out the match and secure a 2–0 victory.

It was a big win for Chard and an important step closer to sealing the league title.
