After being robbed of a win in the reverse fixture earlier in the season, morning push back and gale force winds, Chard wanted to prove their worth and win this one, which would mean going above the opposition in the league. Gareth Eggle (umpiring) had arrived forgetting to change from his pyjamas and attempting to distract the opposition….
Chard pressed hard from the start and were soon 1-0 up with an interception from Tim which he passed to the top of the D for Veitch to score. However, Yeovil soon equalised. Without their usual injector, Chard soon won a short and Max made the score 2-1. Just before half time, Spud became injector for ‘brown rat’ routine which Nick slotted in at the near post. With Yeovil players getting more frustrated, including one of their players receiving a green card (only to return to the field and receive a yellow moments after) Chard were able to win another short corner which Veitch hit home. Chard also recorded a green card with a poor tackle from Riley. Yeovil scored a second, but never looked likely to be able to recover the 4 goals from chard. Chard move to 5th in the league with a potential of finishing 3rd at the end of the season.
Final score 4-2.
