The new season got off to a fantastic start for Chard Ladies 2s, with a hard-fought 2–2 draw against Sidmouth Ottery! The team showed a brilliant positive attitude throughout, with everyone putting in the effort and supporting each other from the first whistle to the last.

The first half saw Chard firmly on the ball, with the defence refusing to give Sidmouth any opportunities to get a shot into the D. Izzie making her debut as goalkeeper for their first game out! Frankie, Sian, Verity and Angel stood strong, stopping attacks and clearing the ball up the pitch. Ria, Molly, Emilie and Harriet picked up the clearances brilliantly, supported by Maisy, Eva and Rosa. Some excellent passing and movement followed, leading to Emilie getting Chard’s first goal of the season!

Chard started the second half with their heads held high, but Sidmouth fought back to level the score after a closely contested first half. With both teams battling hard, one more goal found the back of the net for Sidmouth, before Molly responded with a fantastic shot from the top of the D to bring Chard back into the game!

It was an amazing first outing for the Ladies 2s, finishing the game 2–2 and setting a brilliant tone for the season ahead. A huge well done to the whole team!

POM- Verity for excellent power and confidence all throughout the game
