On a cool, breezy Saturday morning, Chard Ladies took to the pitch with a strong squad of 12, ready for a competitive contest against Sidmouth Ottery 4s. From the outset, it was clear the sides were evenly matched, with both teams demonstrating skill and determination throughout.
Chard showed excellent control on the ball early on, linking passes well and building play with confidence. However, midway through the first half, Sidmouth Ottery broke the deadlock with a well-taken goal. Chard responded almost immediately, winning a short corner that was executed to perfection by Kate and Frankie. The routine paid off as Izzie stepped up to convert, bringing the score level.
The first half ended 1–1, with both teams battling hard and matching each other in intensity and quality.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Chard creating several promising chances but narrowly missing out on adding to the scoreline. Persistence eventually paid off when Kate delivered an outstanding ball into the D, finding Emily in the perfect position to slot home Chard’s second goal.
The match continued at a high standard, with both teams pushing hard in a competitive back-and-forth contest. Just before the final whistle, Sidmouth Ottery earned a short corner and capitalised, scoring a hard-fought equaliser to bring the game to 2–2.
A well-deserved draw reflected the effort and quality shown by both sides.
Player of the Match went to Izzie, who worked tirelessly throughout and delivered an outstanding performance.
Special thanks go to umpires Trevor and Claire for officiating the game.
